Keeping Up With Dr. Miami - How Plastic Surgeons Are Embracing Technology

The goal of every plastic surgeon is to make people feel better about their body, Dr. Miami is no exception.
Not only is he a social media big wig but he is also the Kylie Jenner of plastic surgeons. Dr. Miami has enjoyed so much publicity in recent time, something that has helped increase his clientele. He recently claimed that he is booked for the next two years.
So how did he get to where he is? You must be asking yourself. Well, from what we have gathered online from verifiable sources; the doctor once authored a book called “my beautiful mommy” which led to his appearance on The Today Show ten years ago.
In 2012 he released a song that caused a stir online and among plastic surgeons. The song’s lyrics touched on “Nose Jobs” in a not positive way, something that captured the attention of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
His daughter introduced him to Snapchat a few years ago after Instagram deleted some of the before and after photos he was posting were reported for being nude in nature. The rest as they say is history.
Today, Dr. Miami has a reality series on TV and has employed two experts to manage his social media accounts. Most of the procedures he performs live are not suitable for viewing by kids or teens, they include Labiaplasty and BBL.
Many plastic surgeons are now shifting their focus from Instagram to Snapchat as a marketing tool. This is because Instagram has been keen to delete graphic content or images and videos that contain nudity. Dr. Matthew Schulman, Lara Devgan and Dr. Sejal Patel are some of the surgeons that have made the switch.
One interesting thing to note is: clients have to give consent to be captured on camera. Personally, I can’t imagine my assets being made available for public viewing, but guess what: most clients or patients give consent.
Speculations are rife that new ethical guidelines that dictate the use of social media could soon be introduced by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. All we can do is sit and wait to see what the future of plastic surgery and use of social media as a marketing tool will be.
